Request a Peer Mentor
Peer mentors are successful pre-med/pre-health students enthusiastic about sharing their experiences with you. These students work with you to share information, guidance, and encouragement to help you become a well-rounded student and competitive applicant to health professions programs. Students and their peer mentors meet regularly to discuss relevant opportunities, such as service, leadership, research experiences and suggestions for success in academic coursework. Peer mentors share professional interests in health careers ranging from Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing, Public Health, Optometry, Physician Assistant, and others.
- Students who have attended an MHCP New Student Presentation, may request a peer mentor by obtaining and returning a Peer Mentor Request Form to the MHCP Office in Pierce Hall 1114. You will be matched with a Peer Mentor based on the information you provide.
- MHCP Peer Mentors are a group of dedicated and experienced students planning a career in the health professions who volunteer their time to work with other UCR students planning health care careers. MHCP recruits new MHCP Peer Mentors in the spring of each year. We are looking for students planning careers in all health fields with a particular need for: pharmacy, dentistry, physical therapy, optometry, and veterinary medicine students in addition to medicine, nursing (graduate programs), and physician assistant.
- We have selected the 2009-2010 academic year cohort of MHCP Peer Mentors.
- Applications will be available for the 2010-11 cohort in the Spring of 2010.
